Perfect Playdate

Perfect Playdate on Sweetmama.ca

April Showers bring indoor playdates. We've already started making our
list of (dry) spring activities, but are running out of creative
endeavours outside of a simple collage, drawing or plasticine
sculpture.

In comes La Salamandre Art Centre, a place where everyone and anyone
can be an artist. Founder Pascale Goutal wanted a space for children,
teens and adults to discover art through their own imagination, while
having fun and learning new techniques from professional artists.

Upon entering, the display of original pieces created by students (and
classical music playing in the background) made us feel like we were
in Picasso or Monet's atelier (pass the palette and brushes please).

Themed workshops ($25 for 2 hours), courses ($195 to $220) and summer
camps for children ($190/week) cover conventional topics such as
drawing and sculpture, as well as more technical sessions such as
stained glass, photo-collage and marionette-making.

The centre also has a private room to host birthday parties ($150 for
10 guests) should we want to avoid papier-mâché in our own living room (no more stains on the couch).

Our rainy day blues are now our Still Life with Umbrellas blue period.
We're turning precipitation into inspiration.
